Odyssey club
Many of our students now have a weekly math Odyssey lesson to complete. If your student is a member of our “Odyssey Club”, they have received a purple card to record their progress. Each week, students must complete one math Odyssey lesson, for a total of six each term. I am fine if students work ahead and want to finish early. I have already suggestde to students that it might be a good idea to work ahead (study hall, homework, free time) when they have time so they aren’t stuck needing one when they have other work due.
At the end of each lesson, they will take a lesson quiz, which they must pass with an 80% or higher. Sometimes there is confusion over what is a Lesson Quiz vs. an Activity Quiz, but you can tell the difference in the Student Portfolio, as the Lesson Quizzes are blue (and hyperlinked). As they they complete a lesson, they will record this on their purple card. It should then be signed by a parent or adult to verify completion. I will run a report at the end of the term to make sure everyone gets proper credit, but this is a way for us to keep track of progress without having to run the report (which is a bit of a hassle).
Students in Odyssey Club will get positive credit towards their grade if they complete all lessons as directed. Students not in Odyssey Club may also receive extra credit for completed lessons, though they do not have to fill out the purple card.
If you have any questions, please let me know.
